Abia Government Bans Keke Operations On Umuahia-Obowu, Owerri, Ohafia, Arochukwu Routes.

The Abia State Government has directed all tricycle, popularly known as Keke, operators to stop operating on routes from Umuahia to Obowu, Owerri, Ohafia and Arochukwu with immediate effect.

The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, who said the measure was aimed at ensuring sanity, order and safety on roads across the state.

Ukaegbu warned that any tricycle operator found violating the directive would be arrested, while the affected tricycle would also be impounded by the authorities.

The state government urged all Keke operators to comply with the directive and advised members of the public to cooperate with the enforcement of the new measure.

The government said the directive was part of efforts to improve road safety, maintain order and ensure smoother transportation across Abia State.
