Good News From Umuhute Azueke, Ndume Ibeku – By Anosike Emmanuel

Following the heavy rainfall experienced last week, some electricity poles at Umuhute Azueke community in Ndume Ibeku were damaged and blown down, while some others appeared to have been weakened by age and the impact of the weather. The situation raised concerns among residents, particularly because electricity remains an important part of everyday life and community development.

In response to the situation, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Enyinnaya Orji, popularly known as Ikukuoma Abia, the APC candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, has, in an act of goodwill and concern for the people, supported the replacement of the damaged electricity poles in Umuhute and parts of Azueke, Ndume Ibeku, with new poles.

Installation work is currently ongoing, as captured in the video, giving residents renewed hope that electricity supply in the affected areas will soon be restored and improved. The intervention has brought a sense of relief to the community, as residents look forward to the completion of the work and the return of stable electricity supply.

The leadership of Umuhute community and several of its respected stakeholders have expressed their appreciation and commendation for this kind gesture. They described the intervention as a welcome response to a challenge affecting the people and appreciated the concern shown towards the community at a time when such support is needed.

The community leadership, including Village Chairman, Mr. Okezie Ndionyemma; Vice Chairman, Chief Ngozinta; Village Secretary, Mr. Okechukwu Ebogu; Youth Chairman – Chinedu Alex Onyejiuwa; and Women Chairlady, Mrs. Justina Sunday, joined in appreciating the intervention and the ongoing effort to replace the damaged electricity poles.

Also lending their voices in commendation are prominent stakeholders of the community, including HRH. Eze Okechukwu Onwubariri, Eze Azueke Ndume Autonomous Community; Deacon Okezie Onyemauwa; Mr. Ogechi Uwaoma Joseph; Chief Charles Ebogu; Hon. Boniface Ume; Chief Innocent Onwubariri; and Mr. Chidi Nwaubani.

Their appreciation reflects the importance of interventions that directly address issues affecting communities at the grassroots. For the people of Umuhute Azueke, the replacement of the damaged poles is not merely about infrastructure; it represents a practical response to a challenge that has affected their daily lives.
