Former Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa, files a ₦5 billion defamation lawsuit against Kenneth Okonkwo
Former Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa, has filed a ₦5 billion defamation lawsuit against politician and former Labour Party spokesperson Kenneth Okonkwo over alleged defamatory comments made during a television interview.
According to court documents, Udenwa alleged that Okonkwo made false and damaging statements about him during the interview, which he said injured his reputation and exposed him to public ridicule. The former governor is seeking ₦5 billion in damages, a public retraction of the statements, and an apology published in national newspapers.
Udenwa maintained that the remarks were malicious, unfounded, and intended to tarnish his image. He urged the court to restrain Okonkwo from making further defamatory statements against him pending the determination of the case.
