El-Rufai Files Fresh N10bn Suit Against ICPC Over Family Access
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a fresh N10bn fundamental rights suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, over alleged denial of access to his wife and son while in custody.
El-Rufai filed the suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging that the commission prevented his wife, Aichatou Asabe, and son, Abba, from visiting him and providing food, medication and other necessities.
He is asking the court to order the commission to grant him reasonable and unhindered access to his family members and counsel throughout his detention, alleging that the denial has caused him emotional trauma and psychological distress.
He also alleged that ICPC officers restrained and intimidated his wife and son on July 7, describing the action as an unlawful interference with his family life and a violation of his fundamental rights.
