Atiku And The Buhari Widow: The Desperation Of A Man Who Fought Buhari Till Death – By Alimi Ibn Fattykolly

Mr. Desperado, you fought her husband until his death. You never congratulated him. Now you want to use his widow to become President?

Yesterday, Atiku Abubakar posted on Facebook: “Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, H.E. Aisha Buhari… We must ease the burden, restore hope and Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”

What a sanctimonious, theatrical, desperate statement from a man who has spent the last 12 years fighting the Buhari family politically, spiritually, and legally.

Nigerians have short memory, but history does not.

Let us remind Atiku.

YOU NEVER SUPPORTED BUHARI, TINUBU DID.

When Muhammadu Buhari was a serial loser — failing in 2003, failing in 2007, failing in 2011 — who stood by him? Not Atiku.

Atiku was in PDP enjoying power with Obasanjo.

It was Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2013/2014 who rallied his ACN, gave Buhari a platform called APC, gave him his political structure in the Southwest, and said: “This time, General, you will win.”

Atiku, the opportunist, saw that Buhari had become popular and jumped into APC on February 2, 2014, not to support Buhari, but to contest against him.

At the historic APC Presidential Primary in Lagos in December 2014, the votes were:

– Buhari: 3,430 votes
– Kwankwaso: 974 votes
– Atiku Abubakar: 954 votes
– Okorocha: 400 votes

You came to Lagos not to support Buhari, but to stop him. You booked 4,000 hotel rooms to bribe delegates against him. Tinubu stood firm for Buhari. Nigerians rejected you and chose Buhari.

That is the first betrayal.

YOU RAN AWAY TO FIGHT HIM AFTER HE WON.

After you lost the primary and pretended to congratulate Buhari on Twitter — “The delegates have spoken” — you did not stay to help him win the general election. As soon as Buhari won in 2015, you abandoned APC on November 24, 2017, and ran back to PDP on December 3, 2017, because you wanted his seat.

In 2019, you became PDP candidate and contested against the same Buhari you could not defeat in a primary. Buhari defeated you with 15.1 million votes to your 11.2 million.

Did you congratulate him? No. You called it a “sham election” and went to court. Supreme Court threw you out.

In 2023, you did it again. You said you were coming to “rescue Nigeria” from Buhari’s party, but you actually wanted to inherit Buhari’s chair. Nigerians again rejected you — Tinubu defeated you.

You fought Buhari in APC primary 2014. You fought him in general election 2019. You fought his legacy in 2023. You never believed in him. You never supported him. You never congratulated him throughout his 8 years as President.

NOW YOU WANT TO USE AISHA BUHARI TO MAKE NIGERIA AFFORDABLE AGAIN?

Mr. Atiku, where were you when Aisha Buhari was First Lady?

Aisha Buhari was crying out that two men had hijacked her husband’s government. She was worried about the hardship in the country. Did you offer solutions? No. You were in Dubai, strategizing how to take over from her husband.

Now that General Buhari is dead — may Allah grant him Aljannah — you are delighted to receive his widow in your living room and use her picture to score a cheap political point against Tinubu’s government with your slogan “Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”

What an insult to the dead!

You who left N75,000 as minimum wage in 2007, who as Vice President supervised the privatization that sold our national assets to your friends, who spent 8 years in Obasanjo’s government that laid the foundation for today’s hardship — you are now the one to make Nigeria affordable?

The same Atiku who told Voice of America, “I will keep contesting again and again as long as I am alive,” even at 81 in 2027 — like Abraham Lincoln? Lincoln never fought his friend’s widow for sympathy votes.

THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR DESPERATION:

Atiku Abubakar is not in love with Nigeria. He is in love with the Presidency.

– He was in PDP (1999-2006)
– He ran to AC (2007) to fight Obasanjo and Yar’Adua
– He ran back to PDP (2009-2013) to fight Jonathan
– He ran to APC (2014-2017) to fight Buhari
– He ran back to PDP (2017 till date) to fight Buhari and Tinubu again

Six party changes. Six presidential attempts. Zero loyalty.

He fought Buhari alive. Now he wants to use Buhari’s wife to fight Tinubu. That is not strategy. That is desperation of a man who sees that Nigerians have moved on and his only hope is to borrow Buhari’s last name.

MESSAGE TO ATIKU:

Hajia Aisha Buhari is a respected former First Lady, a mother of the nation, who deserves honour. She went to see you out of courtesy because she is a decent woman.

Do not use her visit to whitewash your history.

You fought her husband until his death. You challenged his victory in court twice and never congratulated him throughout his tenure as President. You never supported him. Tinubu supported him.

You cannot now wear Buhari’s face to contest against Tinubu — the same Tinubu who made Buhari President.

Nigerians are watching. We know the difference between courtesy and desperation.

Mr. Desperado, leave the Buhari family alone. Face Tinubu in 2027 with your own record, not Buhari’s widow.

History will not forget.
