Ikwuano/Umuahia Will Witness Quality And Accountable Representation If I Am Elected – Orji Assures

The leading aspirant for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, Ikuku-Oma Abia, has assured the good people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South that they will witness quality, accountable and intentional representation if he is elected in 2027.

Speaking during an interactive session with stakeholders and community leaders from Ikwuano/Umuahia at his country home in Umuahia, the former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly said the era of accidental representation is over and that the federal constituency deserves a voice that will be heard, seen and felt.

According to him, “Ikwuano/Umuahia has suffered for too long from representation that is absent in Abuja and absent at home. I am coming to stand in the gap. If you elect me, Ikwuano/Umuahia will witness quality and accountable representation. Representation that you can see. Representation that you can touch. Representation that will bring home results.”

Rt. Hon. Orji stated that his blueprint for Ikwuano/Umuahia rests on four pillars.

First, Quality Lawmaking. He promised to sponsor and support people-oriented bills that will directly impact the lives of farmers, traders, students, artisans and civil servants in the constituency. Having presided over a House that passed over seventeen landmark laws, including the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law and the Abians in Diaspora Commission Law, he said he has the legislative experience to make Ikwuano/Umuahia proud in the Green Chambers.

Second, Accountable Leadership. The former Speaker assured that he will institutionalize regular town hall meetings across all wards in Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South. He said every quarter, he will return home to give account of his stewardship, his attendance, his votes, the constituency projects attracted and the funds utilized. “My representation will be open. No secrecy. My people will know what I am doing for them. That is accountability,” he said.

Third, Tangible Development. Rt. Hon. Orji recalled how, as Speaker, he graded over fourteen rural roads, built nine mini-stadia, provided electricity transformers, water projects and empowered thousands of youths and women without being a federal legislator. He assured that with the leverage of a federal seat, Ikwuano/Umuahia will witness unprecedented infrastructural attraction, from road projects, to school renovations, to healthcare support and agricultural empowerment.

Fourth, Human Capital Development. Ikuku-Oma Abia emphasized that his Direct Touch Initiative which earned him the title Father of Empowerment will be expanded. He promised massive youth training in ICT, skills acquisition, startup grants for SMEs, scholarships for indigent students and special support programmes for widows, farmers and persons with disabilities.

“My people, I am not coming to Abuja to learn on the job. I have been tested. I stabilized the Abia State House of Assembly for four years without crisis. I transformed the Assembly complex into a world-class facility. I led an Assembly described as the Assembly of Many Firsts. I know how to lobby. I know how to negotiate. I have friends across party lines. I will use that network for the benefit of Ikwuano/Umuahia,” he added.

He concluded by urging the people not to be distracted by propaganda and attacks on elders, but to focus on capacity, competence and compassion. He noted that the 2027 contest is not about Chief T.A Orji but about who can best represent Ikwuano/Umuahia.

“I am not contesting against anybody’s father. I am contesting to give Ikwuano/Umuahia a voice that has been missing. Give me your mandate and I will give you quality and accountable representation that you will be proud of.”

Stakeholders who spoke at the meeting described Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji as a man with a proven scorecard and pledged their support to ensure Ikuku-Oma Abia stands in the gap for Ikwuano/Umuahia come 2027.
