Obi Aguocha, Lest You Forget: You Are Contesting With Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji And Not Chief T.A Orji – Show Us Your Scorecard – By Hon. Prince Clinton Alozie

Honourable Obi Aguocha, lest you forget, it has become very imperative to remind you who exactly you are going into a political contest with come 2027. You are not contesting against Chief T. A. Orji. You are contesting against Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, Ikuku-Oma Abia. This distinction is very important and you must get it into your head.

For some time now, you have left the primary duty for which the good people of Ikwuano and Umuahia elected you and you have now turned yourself into a full time critic of a former Governor and former Senator of Abia State. At every opportunity, at every gathering, at every media chat, your only talking point is Chief T. A. Orji. You have made it look as if your mandate in the House of Representatives is to fight Chief T. A. Orji. That is not why you were elected.

The people of Ikwuano and Umuahia did not give you their mandate to go and be picking on a former Senator who has served his time and has moved on. They gave you their mandate to represent them, to speak for them, to attract projects to them, to bring the federal presence to their doorsteps. That is the essence of representation. But what have we seen? We have seen a man who has abandoned governance and embraced propaganda.

Today, the people are asking you a simple and direct question. Where is your scorecard? Show us your scorecard and stop hiding under attacks on a former Senator whose performance in office you have not been able to match up to 10%.

Let us be honest with ourselves. Chief T. A. Orji, as Governor of Abia State for eight years and as Senator representing Abia Central for eight years, left footprints. You may not like his style, you may not like his politics, but you cannot deny that he built structures, he empowered people, he gave many Abians opportunities to rise. He opened up the political space for many young people, including yourself. What have you built? Who have you empowered in a tangible way that the people can see? Where is the road you attracted? Where is the school you renovated? Where is the bill you sponsored that has direct bearing on the life of an average farmer in Ikwuano or a trader in Umuahia?

It is easy to pick on a former Senator. It is easy to throw stones at a man who is no longer in office. But it is very difficult to match his record. And the truth is that you have not matched ten percent of his record in terms of performance, in terms of empowerment, in terms of political depth.

This is what happens when representation becomes accidental. When a man finds himself in office without adequate preparation, without a clear blueprint, he resorts to noise making. He believes that by attacking elders and leaders who have served before him, he will appear to be working. But the people are wiser. The people of Ikwuano and Umuahia are now politically enlightened. They know the difference between performance and propaganda. They know the difference between a lawmaker who is working and a lawmaker who is just talking.

Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, Ikuku-Oma Abia, is not his father. Let that sink into your consciousness. He is his own man. He has carved a niche for himself. As Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, he led the legislature with calmness, maturity and stability. He did not use his office to fight people. He used his office to build people. Across Abia State, across Ikwuano and Umuahia in particular, there are thousands of young men and women, widows, artisans, students and traders who can testify to the empowerment and support they received from Ikuku-Oma Abia long before any election. He did not need to be in the National Assembly to touch lives. He touched lives as a private citizen and as Speaker.

That is the man you will be contesting against. Not Chief T. A. Orji. So channel your energy to face Ikuku-Oma Abia. Tell the people why you deserve a second term. Tell them what you have done with the first term they graciously gave you. Tell them why they should trust you again.

If you have no scorecard to show, then be honourable enough to admit it. The people of Ikwuano and Umuahia are tired of audio representation. They are tired of a representative who is more visible on social media attacking elders than he is visible in his constituency bringing development. They want a man who will stand in the gap for them. They want a man who will speak with authority and be respected in Abuja. They want a man who knows the job.

And that man is Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, Ikuku-Oma Abia.

Come 2027, the ballot will not be about Chief T. A. Orji. It will be about you and your scorecard versus Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji and his proven capacity. It will be about accidental representation versus intentional leadership. It will be about noise versus results.

Ikwuano and Umuahia have made up their minds. They want intentional leadership. They want Ikuku-Oma Abia to stand in the gap.
