Obi Aguocha, member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, is finally being forced to confront his own reflection — and what stares back at him is nothing but shock, emptiness and dismay. After three wasted years in the House of Representatives with no visible performance, no tangible scorecard, no legacy to point to, all he clutches are phantom projects — chief among them the much-hyped Federal Medical Centre, Ikwuano, which exists nowhere beyond the paper it was written on.

THE MIRROR OF UBAKALA

What happened at Ubakala in Umuahia South LGA was not just an embarrassment; it was a political autopsy. In front of the Presidents-General and the Executives of the Ubakala Clan Union Federated, a serving Federal lawmaker was fact-checked live, project by project, claim by claim, and found wanting. When a representative cannot defend his stewardship before his own people, his misrepresentation ceases to be private failure and becomes a collective pity.

FATHOM PROJECTS AND PAPER ACHIEVEMENTS

The much-touted Federal Medical Centre, Ikwuano exemplifies the Aguocha era. A proposal celebrated as an achievement. A paper captured as a monument. Prayers cannot build hospitals, and press releases cannot admit patients. Only due process, presidential assent, and legislative follow-through can. For three years, what Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia have received are headlines without foundations, promises without pillars.

THE ROAD THAT EXPOSED THE LIE

At Ubakala, Aguocha boasted that he facilitated the Amaigbo-Eziama-Amuzu road. He was corrected instantly by Elder Friday Ogbuehi, immediate past President-General of Ubakala Clan Improvement Union Federated. That road, Ogbuehi clarified, was facilitated by the Abia State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, an illustrious son of Ubakala, and funded by the World Bank and Abia State Government. To claim another man’s labour is not representation; it is desperation.

A PATTERN OF STOLEN GLORY

It did not end there. The Agalaba Ise-Umuokeleke road, again claimed by Aguocha, was exposed as an Abia State Government project. The solar lights at Apumiri Market, which he paraded as his intervention, were facilitated by Senator Austin Akobundu and supervised by Hon. Uwaoma Ndukauba. When every project you point to belongs to someone else, you have not just failed to perform, you have failed to belong.

THE RICE THAT NEVER REACHED THE PEOPLE

Perhaps the most painful is the palliative rice saga. President Bola Tinubu graciously released trailer loads of rice to all House members to cushion the subsidy removal pain. To date, Aguocha cannot account for Ikwuano/Umuahia’s share. Not even the 13,000 bags he claimed to have distributed to Ubakala alone were acknowledged by the community leaders. Hunger cannot be deceived with propaganda.

SCHOLARSHIP BY STEALTH

The 45 scholarships Aguocha claims to have awarded to Ubakala students have become another controversy. Elder Ogbuehi stated unequivocally that his administration was never informed nor consulted. In Ubakala, where 15 autonomous communities act through their Presidents-General, such an opaque process is alien, insulting, and unacceptable. Empowerment without the people is manipulation.

OTTI’S SHADOW CAN NO LONGER COVER HIM

Aguocha, like a child seeking his mother’s wrapper, ran under Governor Alex Otti’s name at that consultative meeting. Yes, he may have been anointed, but anointing without performance is a curse. As the people of Ubakala have shown, the governor’s shadow is not long enough to cover three years of nothingness. Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia are wiser now; they separate the governor’s work from a lawmaker’s want.

A RALLYING POINT OF PITY

Today, the misrepresentation of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency has become a rallying point of pity across the three LGAs. From Ikwuano to Umuahia North and South, the conversation is the same: How did we descend from robust, vocal, and visible representation to this silent, excuse-ridden, project-hijacking era? That pity has now turned into resolve. Never again, they vow, will they be this poorly represented.

THE VERDICT FROM UBAKALA

Hon. Ndidi Anosike, Abia State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, summed up the Ubakala mood with surgical precision: “You have not done well in Ubakala, but it is not too late for you yet.” That was a statesman’s way of saying you have failed, but humility may still save you. The people, however, have moved beyond pity to planning for replacement.

THE YEARNING FOR RESTORATION

Every federal constituency desires a voice that roars in Abuja and works at home. Ikwuano/Umuahia yearns for a man who understands legislative craftsmanship, constituency diplomacy, executive lobbying, and the granular needs of our clans. That yearning in 2027 has a name, a face, and a proven pedigree.

THE MAN: RT. HON. CHINEDUM ENYINNAYA ORJI

Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, Ikuku Abia, is not a stranger to service. As former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, he presided over a legislature that was stable, productive, and people-oriented. He knows what it means to build consensus, to attract projects, to mentor youths, to empower women, and to keep the constituency office open and functional. He is not learning on the job; he is coming with the job in his blood.

EXPERIENCE OVER EXPERIMENT

Ikwuano/Umuahia cannot afford another experiment in 2027. We need a man who has walked the corridors of power with results, not rumours. Ikuku has facilitated roads, classrooms, scholarships that can be verified, empowerment programs where beneficiaries are known by name and village, not by press statement. His representation will not need Elder Ogbuehi to fact-check it; the people themselves will testify.

LEADERSHIP THAT UNITES IKWUANO AND UMUAHIA

What distinguishes Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji is his organic acceptance across Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South. He is at home in the farmsteads of Ikwuano and in the urban wards of Umuahia. He speaks the language of our traditional institutions and the aspirations of our youth. He will not divide us into clans for political convenience; he will unite us as a federal constituency for developmental relevance.

2027 is not just an election for Ikwuano/Umuahia; it is a referendum on dignity. Shall we continue to be pitied for our choice, or shall we be respected for our courage to correct it? Let us retire pity and enthrone promise. Let us send to Abuja a man who will not hide under anyone’s shadow but will become our own light. That man is Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji. Come 2027, Ikwuano/Umuahia will not just vote; we will restore.
