Obi Aguocha, Mike Arnold And The Blackwater Shadow Over Ikwuano/Umuahia: Why Our People Must Be Worried
For months, we have watched with concern the growing closeness between the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North & South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, and one Mike Arnold, a former mayor of Blanco, Texas, and self-styled American activist.
On the surface, it looks like international lobbying for Nnamdi Kanu. But underneath, it is something far more dangerous for our federal constituency.
Who is Mike Arnold that our Reps Member is parading?
Two facts about Mike Arnold cannot be ignored:
1. He is the face of the Blackwater connection in Nigeria.
Nigerian tech entrepreneur and respected voice, Charles Awuzie, has already raised the alarm in a widely shared article titled “Mike Arnold May be consciously or unconsciously part of Erik Prince’s conspiracy to send private armies to Nigeria.”
Awuzie revealed that Mike Arnold’s current campaign about Christian genocide in Nigeria is directly aligned with the agenda of Erik Prince, founder of Blackwater – the notorious American private military company responsible for the 2007 Nisour Square massacre in Iraq where 17 civilians were killed.
Erik Prince, according to reports, has been shopping for funding, even from the Pope, to send private armies to Nigeria under the guise of protecting Christians.
And who is his loudest megaphone in the US Congress today? Mike Arnold.
2. He is not a lawyer for peace, he is an advocate for intervention.
Mike Arnold is not calling for dialogue. In his testimony before US Congress, he called for sanctions, for indictment of Nigerian leaders, and for America to treat Nigeria as a terrorist hub. This is the language that private military contractors use to justify invasion.
Now ask yourself: Why is the man representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South – a peaceful, agrarian, hardworking constituency – romancing a man whose agenda is to bring foreign mercenaries into Nigeria?
THE DANGER TO IKWUANO/UMUAHIA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
This relationship poses three direct dangers:
a) It Puts Our Homeland on the Security Watchlist: Ikwuano/Umuahia is not a war zone. But when our own Representative aligns with a man lobbying for foreign private armies, he paints our constituency as a conflict zone that needs foreign intervention. Investors will run. Development will stop.
b) It Undermines Indigenous Solutions: As Charles Awuzie rightly said, “We shall use indigenous solutions to solve local problems.” We need roads, schools, empowerment, and local security architecture – not Blackwater operatives and American mercenaries.
Our people suffered during the civil war. We know what foreign guns do. We do not need a new set of scavengers “thirsty for African blood and minerals,” as Awuzie described them.
c) It Distracts From Real Representation: While Abia and other federal lawmakers are attracting projects, our discourse in Ikwuano/Umuahia is now about Sokoto Declarations, Finland Declarations, and American ex-mayors. Is this what we sent Hon. Aguocha to Abuja to do?
Hon. Obi Aguocha should remember: He was elected by farmers in Olokoro, traders in Isi Gate, and students in MOUAU – not by lobbyists in Washington.
He must immediately disassociate his office from Mike Arnold and the entire Erik Prince/Blackwater agenda. Ikwuano/Umuahia needs effective representation, not an international security liability.
Our constituency must not become a landing pad for private armies.
The people are watching.
