Adeleke Declares Friday Work-Free Day Ahead Of Osun Governorship Election.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Friday, August 14, 2026, a work-free day for public service workers across the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The decision is aimed at allowing public servants who need to travel to their places of registration to do so and adequately prepare to participate in the election.

The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, and made public by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

According to the directive, the work-free day applies to all categories of public workers, except those engaged in essential and emergency services.

Governor Adeleke also urged public servants, their relatives and friends to come out in large numbers to exercise their constitutional right to vote and protect their ballots.

The governor further called on workers to mobilise informal workers, artisans and professional groups to participate actively in the electoral process.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with Governor Adeleke seeking re-election for another term.

Adeleke said the declaration of the work-free day was intended to enable public servants to participate fully in the electoral process as the state prepares for the closely watched poll.
