Re: “I Won’t Give Constituents What I Can’t Give My Children” – “All Your Constituents Must Not Be Like Your Children” – Paul Njoku Tells Aguocha
Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku, a human rights activist, author and political strategist to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, has challenged the member representing Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, to provide a verifiable and justifiable answer to what he has given to the good people of his Constituents if he does not consider donating food items, tricycles (Keke), buses, motorcycles, sowing machines, grants, loans, mini-buses, farm tools, generators, Agriculture seeds, grinding machines, etc to the people as part of economic empowerment and capital development, adding that ”2023 Obi wave” made Aguocha not to emulate Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and Hon. Amobi Ugah on how to give empowerment to the people.
Recall that Aguocha stated while speaking on a radio political program on Rapid FM in Umuahia-the Abia State Capital, that his approach to empowerment is centred on creating sustainable value rather than distributing temporary relief materials. “I won’t give constituents what I can’t give to my children”, he decried.
Reacting, Njoku wrote:
“It is deeply disappointing that Hon. Obi Aguocha is bereft of the minutest idea of the basic things to do for his Constituents in dire need of effective self-employment. It is not possible that all the constituents of Hon. Obi Aguocha can be like his children.
“Who told Aguocha that every one must obtain a university degree to feed and fend for his or her family?
“Is Aguocha not aware that artisans, bus drivers, farmers and Keke operators are supposed to be encouraged and empowered as they pay bills, feed families and sponsor their children to higher institutions? Are some graduates not tricycle-operators?
“The only truce is for Aguocha to come home so that we can elect a more purposeful and result-oriented Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji to represent us.
“I challenge Aguocha to provide a verifiable and justifiable answer to what he has given to the good people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency if he does not consider donating food items, tricycles (Keke), buses, motorcycles, sowing machines, grants, loans, buses, farm tools, Agriculture seeds, grinding machines, mini-buses etc to the people as part of economic empowerment and capital development.
“No doubt, the ”2023 Obi wave” made Aguocha not to emulate Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and Hon. Amobi Ugah on how to give empowerment to the people.
“If you talk about people-centred representation, Chinedum Orji, is one name that keeps standing tall. His consistent engagements with his people are not for show or political grammar in all the radio stations. It is about understanding the peoples’ challenges, identifying their real needs, and taking those needs straight to where solutions can be found which is the difference between occupying an office and truly representing the people”.
