APC Abia: Leaders Who Lose Polling Units, Wards May Miss Federal Appointments — Chukwu.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has warned that party leaders and stakeholders who fail to deliver their polling units, wards or constituencies in the 2027 general elections may not qualify for appointments from the Federal Government.

The APC State Chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, gave the warning on Sunday at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia during a post-primary election reconciliation meeting.

Chukwu said the party would assess the performance of its leaders and stakeholders based on the results recorded in their respective polling units, wards and constituencies during the elections.

According to him, the results from the polling units, wards and constituencies of APC leaders would be published immediately after the election and used by the party’s national leadership to determine the level of commitment and performance of members.

“Let me tell you, we are working out a modality where people will be rewarded according to their output. If you think you have contacts in Abuja and you lose your polling unit, ward and constituency, and you expect to be made a minister, it is impossible under this regime,” Chukwu said.

He added: “Immediately after this election, we will publish the polling units of all the leaders and stakeholders of the party. If you cannot win your polling unit, ward and constituency, you have no business being made a federal commissioner or a minister. Things must change, and we must follow a new order.”

The APC chairman urged party members to remain united and focused on securing victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in Abia State in the 2027 elections.

He also cautioned House of Assembly candidates and other stakeholders against placing personal or other political interests above the interests of the APC.

Responding to the chairman’s charge, an APC member, Sam Anya, said structures had already been put in place in Ohafia to mobilise support and secure victory for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.

As part of efforts to strengthen unity within the party ahead of the elections, Chukwu inaugurated a peace committee headed by Madukwe Ukaegbu to reconcile aggrieved members and promote cohesion among APC stakeholders.

The chairman said the reconciliation process was necessary to position the party for a stronger and more coordinated campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
