APC Abia Distances Itself From Orji Kalu’s Endorsement of Otti, Insists on 2027 Governorship Victory.

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from comments attributed to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu suggesting that Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party would be re-elected in the 2027 governorship election, describing the remark as a personal opinion that does not reflect the party’s official position.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Abia State APC Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party said Senator Kalu’s comments were his personal views and should not be interpreted as the position of the APC in the state.

The party maintained that it remains united and committed to reclaiming power in Abia in the 2027 general elections, insisting that Governor Otti has not done enough to merit another term in office.

According to the statement, the APC believes Abians are prepared to embrace what it described as a credible alternative after what it called years of “propaganda rather than measurable performance” under the current administration.

The party further alleged that the state government would be held accountable by voters over the reported expenditure of more than ₦112 billion on smart schools and public school renovation projects, claiming that the impact of the projects was not visible across the state.

The APC also accused the administration of failing to fully implement the ₦70,000 national minimum wage and other benefits for civil servants despite what it described as increased monthly allocations from the Federation Account.

The statement added that retirees would seek accountability over unpaid gratuities and pensions, while local government allocations and other public expenditures would also come under public scrutiny during the 2027 elections.

The party further questioned the reported ₦6.5 billion recreational facility project, alleging that it existed only on social media.

Reaffirming its political ambition, the APC said it was determined to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, win all three senatorial seats, the eight House of Representatives seats, all 24 seats in the Abia State House of Assembly, and produce Dr. Eric Chinemeucheya Opah as the next Governor of Abia State.

The party urged its members and supporters to remain focused, stressing that no individual’s opinion, regardless of status, would weaken its resolve to reclaim power in the state.
