Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency: “We Did Not Endorse You” – Premier Club Denies Obi Aguocha

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon Obi Aguocha’s latest bid to cover up his three years of non-performance has failed again. The desperate lawmaker who is virtually begging to repeat an assignment he failed woefully to perform in his assignment has attempted top ride on the back of elitist approval by spreading a false information that the prestigious elite social club, Premier Club, Umuahia has endorsed him for a second term.

But the Club has unequivocally denied endorsing the embattled lawmaker stating that “The Purported Endorsement Does Not Represent the Position of the Club…. the purported endorsement, to the extent that it purports to represent the collective position of the Club or its Branch, is hereby expressly repudiated, condemned and declared unacceptable”

The statement by the Club dated Sept 21, 2026 and titled ”REJOINDER ON THE PURPORTED ENDORSEMENT OF A POLITICAL CANDIDATE BY THE CLUB” and signed by the Umuahia branch chairman and secretary respectively Premier Ako Obioma and Premier Chuka Agomoh further added “No individual, group of members or gathering acting outside the constitutional and established framework of the Club possesses the authority to unilaterally commit the Club to a political position or endorse a political candidate on behalf of the entire membership. Accordingly, the purported endorsement does not represent the position of the Club and shall not be accorded any recognition or legitimacy whatsoever”

Aguocha had in his desperate move to shore up his image, in a post shared on the social media by one of his e-rats, claimed: ”Today, we attended the meeting of the Umuahia Premier Club, Umuahia Branch….In a significant development, the meeting, presided over by Premier Chibuzo Ejim, unanimously adopted and endorsed Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha for a second term as member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives”

The Umuahia elite club took pains to explain that significantly, the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, the Legal Adviser plus the four (4) National officers from Umuahia Branch were reportedly absent from the meeting, being the monthly general meeting of the Club, and not as a political meeting or a forum authorised to deliberate upon and endorse a political candidate.

The statement further noted that ”The circumstances under which the purported endorsement was consequently made therefore require careful scrutiny. It is particularly disturbing that the meeting took place at the residence of the candidate concerned, thereby creating circumstances in which his political associates and party supporters were able to take advantage of the gathering to introduce and advance a partisan agenda that was neither part of the scheduled business of the Club nor sanctioned by its leadership”

Political observers who reacted to the development noted that the desperation of the lawmaker to return to a job he has shown complete ineptitude and incompetence at is becoming embarrassing
