2027: “It Is Shameful You Donated And Recorded 20 Pieces Of Sanitary Pads And 3 Packs Of Tissue Paper As Girl-Child Empowerment In Few Secondary Schools At Ohuhu” – Njoku Tells Aguocha
Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku, a human rights activist, author and political strategist to Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, has criticized the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, for recording and publicizing the donation of sanitary pads and tissue papers to female students in few secondary schools at Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State as a constituency project, following viral videos making rounds as a girl-child empowerment initiative by Aguocha.
Njoku stressed that “It Is shameful he donated and recorded on camera, 20 pieces of sanitary pads and 3 packs of tissue paper as a girl-child empowerment project in few secondary schools at Ohuhu”.
In a statement made available to the press, Comrade Paul stated that, “Hon. Obi Aguocha should be told to stop recording and embarrassing our daughters on camera in secondary schools at Ohuhu with pieces of sanitary pads and a few pack of tissue paper as a constituency project.
“Leadership is not about forcing yourself where you do not belong. In my view, Obi Aguocha does not belong to public service leadership. He has proven he lacks respect and dignity for women.
“His actions show he lacks the weight of capacity, maturity and character needed to address the needs of the girl-child and women of Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal Constituency.
“It is shameful he recently donated and recorded on camera, 20 pieces of sanitary pads and 3 packs of tissue paper as a girl-child empowerment project in few secondary schools at Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area as girl-child empowerment project ahead of 2027 general elections.
“Can Obi Aguocha buy sanitary pads and tissue papers for her daughters and record them on camera for public consumption having repeatedly told us that he cannot treat and handle people the way he cannot treat and handle his children? Has he seen Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and Hon. Amobi Ogah sharing sanitary pads and tissue papers to female secondary school students by proxy as constituency projects?
“Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji could have done better because he is a symbol of representation that matches the moment with discipline, dignity and decorum of the girl-child and women empowerment. He is a square peg in a square hole. He is someone who understands the girl-child mechanism and how to turn promises into projects. He is not coming to experiment but to deliver.
“Chinedum Orji’s legislative antecedents and advocacy are anchored on progress, youth empowerment, girl-child training/ protection, women empowerment, sports, massive employment, vocational and digital skills, security, infrastructure, general empowerment, scholarships and educational support rather than deception. He will be an effective voice in the House of Representatives.
“Orji’s background in lawmaking and legislative leadership have prepared him for this exact responsibility. This is about competence meeting opportunity and capacity meeting consistency.
“The time to act is now. 2027 is about progress, development and a stronger Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency. With an open-door representation and inclusive leadership, Chinedum Orji will ensure that no community, youth, girl-child, woman or family is left behind. Let us support and vote for him. He is the right man for the legislative job”.
